Thanks to Fort Collins Rotary Clubs, all Fort Collins schools are getting Buddy Benches.  See info about Buddy Benches here. Pictured is the new Buddy Bench at Werner Elementary School. The engraving for Peggy Barnstorff is in memory of the school’s former Occupational Therapist who, after working for PSD for many years, passed away last year. She was the wife of fellow Rotarian Garth Barnstorff.

The Buddy Bench is a 2016-2017 project of all four Fort Collins Rotary Clubs. Using grant funding from District 5440, all clubs in the district were offered money to create a community project. The four Fort Collins clubs joined resources and decided to make sure all PSD elementary schools received a Buddy Bench. We worked with Centennial High School students who made the signs posted on the back of the benches. Poudre School District covered the cost of bench installation at each school.

The Buddy Bench is a designated seating area where student who are feeling lonely or upset can seek camaraderie. It is a way to encourage playground friendship.
