Past District Governor, Mike Forney.  Mike has been a member of the Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs and the Fort Collins Foothills Rotary Club, so he brings a wealth of Rotary knowledge and leadership experience to our club!
A general aviation pilot since 1962, Mike served for more than 20 years as a senior command pilot for the Angel Flight organization and as an on-call pilot for the Department of Homeland Security before selling his Cessna 182 and retiring his “wings” in 2017.  (more….)

While residing in Steamboat Springs he served on the boards of United Way, Main Street Steamboat Springs, Seminars at Steamboat and was appointed a member, and later chairman of the Yampa Valley Airport Commission.  He also became a volunteer business counselor for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s SCORE program in 2005 and continues working with entrepreneurs which he now serves as a SCORE and Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Counselor in Northern Colorado.

Mike has also been a children’s storyteller for 15 years.  He has continued to share his stories with fourth and fifth graders in the Poudre and Thompson school districts both in the classrooms and virtually.  His stories are also included on his YouTube channel Mike Forney Storyteller.
He was District Governor for District 5440 in 2012-13 while a member of the Steamboat Springs Rotary Club.  Other Rotary activities (among many) include serving as a Group Study Exchange Team Leader to Australia, as a member of the Council on Legislation, as a Regional Public Image Coordinator and as the Chair of the Rocky Mountain Leadership Institute.
